Project SPS La Huayca II. Photovoltaic plant located in northern Chile, to the south-east of Iquique, in the district of Pozo Almonte, town of La Huayca. The project involves injecting 30.5 MW into the Great North Power Grid (SING) and a total investment of 67.3 million dollars. More than 128,000 solar panels will be installed, deployed over an area of 50 hectares.

This project marks an important milestone in photovoltaic development in Chile, as the first stage was the first photovoltaic plant to inject energy into the SING.

Final commissioning is scheduled for July 2014.

In the La Huyaca project, MT Mecatronica is in charge of the low and medium voltage electrical installations, including the connection of the substations and fibre optic installations.
